2001 Ford F150 Door Locks Not Working

I just inherited my fathers 2000 ford f150.

The automatic door locks do not work. This allows you to lock and unlock your vehicle doors without actually inserting the key into the door handle. Checked the batteries in the key fobs checked the fuses checked the car battery. Once opened worked like a charm until a few days later did the same thing.

Key fob and manual door locks stopped working. Read that it might be an actuator problem not sure i can fix this. Is that the most logical thing or is there something else i can try first.
